A little of My Story

Growing up in the cotton mill town of Blackburn in Lancashire horses where a rare sight. The only horses we saw where the shire horses of thwaites brewery or the pony that pulled the cart for the rag and bone man. I will never forget the day I saw a girl riding a horse on the park close to where we lived. Mouth gaping the feeling I had hit me in my heart, from that moment I wanted to learn and be with horses. I was 7 years old. I have always had an interest in wanting to understand the psychology of horses, I was always the one to ask 'why' when the horse bucked or took off and I was particularly sensitive to horses that appeared to me to be neglected or abused. I rescued my first pony, a shetland when I was 11 years old her name was Rosie and she was neglected living in an old shed in an extended back yard. My parents didn't have money to buy a pony or look after one and despite me begging them to help me rescue her they just couldn't afford to. After a sleepless tearful night I woke up in the morning, with the idea to sell all that I owned including my much loved Barbie motorhome to the second hand shop, I raised £75 (which was actually a ridiculous amount of money for a shetland pony in 1980) the asking price and I bought the pony. I earned pocket money to pay her feed and keep. My fascination with horse behaviour grew and I wanted to find better ways to work with horses and to understand them. This came some years later around 1996 when I attended a demonstration by Monty Roberts, it was his first UK tour. This opened the door to understanding horses the way I had been wanting and I began the day after with my first Join Up. I continue to use Monty's methods and I have adapted them alongside other methods to create my own training system I have name 'Aligned Horsemanship'.

My path was then led to clicker training I was introduced to this method through a dog trainer who was adapting it to horses, she was following a trainer named Karen Pryor 'author of 'dont shoot the dog' and after researching her I came across a woman who had worked with Karen Pryor named Alexandra Kurland, she had written books on the subject and so I was keen to contact her. I organised and arranged the first UK Clicker Training demonstration by Alexandra Kurland and I created 'Clicker Training UK' my name back then was Linda Pearson. Clicker training led me to an invitation to Monty's home Flag is up Farm in 2004 to give him a demonstration of the method and how I used it alongside his method. Having to do a Join up in front of Monty was one of the scariest things I have had to do and especially when I was asked to take a horse from a field and demonstrate a join up in front of a crowd.  The name of the horse was revealed to me after I had achieved join up, the horses name was 'Shy Boy', the horse he brought in from the wild. I can still feel the emotion I had that day it was truly an honour. At the same time in my personal life I was under a lot of stress I was suffering emotionally after the passing of my mother and my job working in the psychiatric hospital was taking its toll. I ended up having a mental breakdown and my mood swings where reflected to me by my horse, this was a turning point in my life and one that would lead me to create my own equine guided program.  My learning continued and I was feeling the need to connect to horses and myself on a spiritual level, this is when I discovered Reiki and I trained to Master level, I then completed a diploma for equine Reiki and animal communication, my studies for this diploma included the case studies of horses at a rescue and rehabilitation center.

After the successful treatment of my diagnosed condition PTSD with Advanced Hypnotherapy I wanted to learn this to help others. I qualified in 2014 as an Advanced Hypnotherapist and soon after in a method called Align2Life. Also in 2014 I completed EAGALA certification (Equine assisted growth and learning) .  I have been successfully treating people who suffer with mental/emotional issues with these methods to date  combined with my unique equine guided transformation program. I love learning and in more recent years I have qualified and hold diplomas for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Bach Flowers,TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) Mindfullness for young learners and teenagers, HorseDream partner Licence certificate and a member of the EAHAE (European and International association for horse assisted education)  I recently gained my diploma in zoopharmacognosy (the study of how animals self medicate) and I enjoy cooking, gardening, walking and singing.
